Two Bars From The Gun is an American rock ‘n roll band from Virginia Beach, VA. They got their start under the songwriting efforts of singer Wes Gow, a FL transplant and lover of guitar tones and storytelling. In 2014 the band released their debut album entitled “Thief & Love,” which went on to garner local and regional press and air play, earning them a nomination for a local VEER music award in the category of best country band. Their depth and range of the genre has drawn comparisons to icons such as Ryan Adams, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, Jeff Tweedy, and Neil Young.
- “The songs on Thief & Love hearken back to late-1970s and early-1980s heartland rock, when Springsteen was going down to The River and Tom Petty was making those Hard Promises.” – Mike Holtzclaw, The Daily Press
- “A superb band with their own unique sound and energy combining the rawness of ‘The Attractions’, with the drive of ‘The Heartbreakers’ and songs that Ryan Adams and Jeff Tweedy would be proud of.” – John Godfrey, The Troubardour Show
- “Gritty storytelling, in sometimes raw, but accessible grooves. Hard to not find comparisons to Paul Westerberg and the Replacements. Even early Goo Goo Dolls comes to mind (John Rzeznik idolized Westerberg). Wes Gow’s lyrics are thought-provoking and his smooth-then-rough vocal swagger are also reminiscent of a very young John Francis Bongiovi before the lights and tour buses.” – Eric Worden, WXTG-FM The Tide
The fall of 2015 saw the release of a second music video, a collaborative effort by Ebb & Flow Films and Innerloupe to adapt live footage from a show at Birdland Records to the previously recorded barnstorming track, “Ballad of Chet Wilson.”
The band have been playing local Hampton Roads shows in 2015 in support of “Thief & Love.” A strong sophomore project is on the horizon with plans to expand to regional venues in 2016!
